Thanks for dropping by! Wow, I'm glad someone actually visited my blog. Thanks for the info. P500 is quite cheap for Spanish coins but as a student, P500 is a week's allowance. Hehehe...
Yeah it's really cheap but I think the value of the coin depends on its condition. The "Reina Isabela" coin sold for P500 was a bit "faded" already although the Spanish Coat of Arms on the reverse side is still a bit visible. Hehe..
Anyway, this same guy from eBay also sells a set of Philippine Coins during the American era. A set includes 10 pieces of both 50 and 25 cents; so all in all 20 coins. He's from Iloilo City I guess so it's very much a big advantage on your part to meet him, hehe...
was wondering if anyone could tell me what a 1998 coin with jose rizal was worth email me at thudthudthud2004@yahoo.com if u have any information on the coin in question thanks
Thanks for dropping by. The 1998 1 peso coin featuring Jose Rizal is ,unfortunately, not worth more than its face value. In fact, it is still in wide circulation today.
Howdy! great site it's most helpful to a novice collector. had copied them really to be printed out. Arnold carl be sure to determine the authenticity of that Spanish coin, their are lots of counterfeit especially rare ones. had some notes here that were not in the blog,i'll try to contribute soon. keep up!
Thanks Boyet! I look forward to your contributions. If possible, please scan them at 300 dpi resolution. You may email me at rexdelsar [at] gmail [dot] com. A lot of coins and banknotes are still missing from this blog. Let us hope to at least approach the completion of this online collection.

Up for sale is a President Joseph "ERAP" Estrada GOLD P1000 Commemorative Bill. This was issued to honor the 100 year celebration of the Philippine Independence. This is an extremely rare collectible given by Erap to his closest relatives and supporters. You can't get this anywhere. It's gold plated and features the face of Erap at the front with the serial number of the bill as JE6301998. It comes with a special case with the seal of the presidency in front and has "his excellency, Joseph Estrada, Pangulo ng Pilipinas" printed inside.

I have a question about the newer Bank notes, when did the date start to appear on the Bangko Sentral Ng Philipinas series bank notes, and when did they stop making 5 Piso and 10 Piso bank notes

The reason why i would like to collect old money and old coins:
i'd like to collect not because of their value, but because of the memories behind those money. ung itay ko lagi nyang kinukwento pag nakikita nya ung luma kong coin na nahingi ko sa kaklase ko, un daw naipambili nya ng kendi kahit tatlong taong na demonitized na. nakalusot sya dun sa tindera... tapos ung kay nanay naman., ung twenty five cents na english series, un daw ung laging iniiwan ni lola dun sa sewing machine nila nung araw, un na daw ung allowance nya para sa pagpasok nya sa skul,,, tapos un daw mickey mouse money ko, sabi ni itay, nung araw daw kailangan mo ng isang bayong (exagerated term) para makabili ng isang kilong bigas.. tsaka gusto kong mag collect para sa future. pag nagkaanak at apo na ko..maikukwento ko sa kanila ung kinuwento sakin ung itay, nanay at lola ko while showing them the authentic coins and banknotes...
im KENJI MERCADO, from querijero St., brgy.5, baler, aurora
Hi. Is there a company here in the Philippines that does small-run commemorative coins? Not sure if the usual companies that have CNC machines are the best to make coins given that coins are usually stamped.
Good evening, im a dedicated collector of 19th century coins and banknotes and im confident that ill be completing my collection sooner i just wanna asked if there are available books or reference that will serve as reference for me thanks blue_dragonvilla@yahoo.com 09157071647
Very nice! Finally, a site about Philippine Coins.
I'm interested in collecting Philippine Commemorative Coins. I have a few, some of it were not featured here yet (those 1 Peso and 2 Peso Coins of the Flora and Fauna Series era). It's been a while since my last commemorative coin, so I'm looking for others. I'd like to buy a new one (or two) soon. If you have recommendations (or questions), please e-mail me at naa.ko.sa.dabaw@gmail.com
there's a guy in Recto selling the same spanish coin in decent condition for P350-400 (silver). The coin from ebay may be cheap to the standards of other but you have to consider the additional cost for money transfer (for payment) and postage (for receiving).
I was fond of collecting different currencies when I was young and it's very nice to know that someone shares the same interest. I already lost of collection and it's always nice to know something about our history.
Philippine Banknotes 1949-Date is my new site listing all notes by serial numbers since 1949. It also has pictures of all the sheets and special issues by the BSP. I hope you like it...... http://pinoynotes.hostoi.com
I'm doing a thesis on Philippine money so I find your blog very useful! I'm also very interested in Philippine money. Is it possible for me to contact you and ask about money? Thanks very much!
I'm really interested on the Philippine right now. We had a project on the evolution of the Philippine peso on our Economics class (4th year high school). I have them but far from being complete. I'm already in college (3rd year) and I want Philippine peso coins and banknotes as my collection now. This blog will really help me a lot and I just found it just today! Found out that there are still lots to collect and much more to spend. :)
I'm wondering if BSP still has the molder for the old coins. And if they sell old coins and banknotes (I'll earn my weekly allowance for me that).
Your website is both informative and educational. As a collector myself, I find it very exciting. Keep up the good work and more power. TY. A.Llamado, Cavite City.
